PepT2 Assay(s)

Background Information

The peptide transporter 2 (PepT2), encoded by the SLC15A2 gene, is a high-affinity, low-capacity proton-coupled symporter responsible for the uptake of dipeptides, tripeptides, and a broad range of peptide-like drugs across the plasma membrane. PepT2 is primarily expressed in the kidney, where it supports nutrient re-absorption, as well as other tissues where it contributes to the bioavailability of many therapeutic compounds. By mediating proton-dependent peptide transport, PepT2 plays a central role in nutrient homeostasis and drug pharmacokinetics.
